TRW Proequip now offers complete airbrake remanufactured HCV caliper programme across Europe

TRW Aftermarket

TRW Aftermarket has announced that it now offers a full and complete Original Equipment (OE) quality remanufactured programme of Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) Air Brake calipers under the TRW Proequip brand.

This news further supports the business target of completing its HCV braking portfolio by the end of the business year. With sales of the entire TRW Proequip portfolio continuing to rise, this is exciting news for existing and potential customers of the brand.

The programme comprises 28 part numbers and caters for all major HCV vehicle manufacturers (VMs), including: MAN, Iveco, Scania, DAF and Mercedes-Benz. In line with the businesses first to market ethos, the range will be continually added to and developed in due course.

TRW’s HCV Channel Marketing Manager, Dennis Christ explained: “The business has been manufacturing and remanufacturing calipers to exacting OE standards for passenger cars for many years.

“Now, drivers of HCV vehicles will benefit from TRW’s vast and unrivalled experience. We are in a privileged position of having extensive access to the technologies that sit behind our parts; and we use all this knowledge and experience to provide the World’s VMs and the IAM with remanufactured parts that are quite simply, ‘as new’.”

The braking system is one of the most safety critical systems in a vehicle. To ensure the greatest safety and ultimate performance, TRW’s HCV caliper programme is remanufactured to the highest specifications. Stringent core acceptance criteria, disassembly and remanufacturing procedures - combined with 100 percent end of line testing - results in a part that performs exactly the way the vehicle manufacturer intended.

Dennis continued: “At TRW, we take our responsibility towards protecting our environment very seriously, and implement ‘Green Thinking’ strategies wherever possible.

“The remanufacture of automotive parts is a growing global business. It reduces cost, waste and CO2 emissions and is often the only aftermarket alternative for older vehicles. In terms of energy consumption, remanufacturing uses only 20 per cent of the energy used to produce a new part.

“As a manufacturer, we firmly believe that it is our responsibility to make a difference wherever and whenever we can. Automotive remanufacturing is one way in which TRW is helping to safeguard the environment. The figures are impressive. Based on 2011 automotive remanufacturing production figures, we saved 5.000 tons of CO2 which is equivalent to 22.270.000 kilo meters driven or 86.000 Truckloads.”

As the leading global automotive safety systems supplier, TRW goes the extra mile and tests all of its parts to the limit. In addition to industry standard checks, when assessing actuator functionality, TRW tests that both brake pads move simultaneously and checks that the sensor indicator is performing correctly.

With a modular design, HCV calipers are the ideal candidate for remanufacturing. In addition to providing its customers with the most cost effective solutions, supplying the complete package gives TRW the edge. Saving time, labour and cost, each HCV caliper comes complete with all necessary accessories and fitting instructions.
