Rearsets SP Edition in big test by Circuit Magazine

TRW Aftermarket

Circuit, the German specialist magazine for ambitious hobby racing, has put the TRW rearsets SP Edition through their paces. And here are the results:

“We installed the new TRW rearsets as part of our racing bike setup for a GSX-R 750 (K8). Among other things, we wanted to find out how easy it is to install the rearsets. In addition to the manufacturing quality, we were also interested in the ergonomics during riding.

Customers receive a comprehensive package with all add-on parts, a description and the certificate of conformity. This means that these aluminium rearsets can also be used on the road, provided that they are fitted correctly on the bike. We like that! We are also fans of the delicate, almost dainty optics – very suitable for a racing bike. The footrests fold and all model variants are kept in black. The actual footrests have a distinctive and sharp “sawtooth” milling that offers good grip for boot soles. The footrest adapter plate offers various adjustments (horizontally max. 28.5 mm and vertically max. 18 mm).

The manufacturing quality is very good for these rearsets with an excellent price-performance ratio. We recommend lubricating all joints, especially the spherical heads, before installation and adding a drop of threadlocker (medium strength) to all fastening bolts for the set.

Installation was completely easy as we had no complaints about the fit. Many TRW rearsets can also be converted to reverse shifting.

In a “dry run” with the rider in the garage we determined the ideal seating position for him. We ended up with the highest vertical setting and hole (more freedom when leaning) and horizontally at the middle position.

This worked great on the track and the gear and brake levers were easy to operate. Both levers can be adjusted. And if worst comes to worst, individual replacement parts are available from TRW-Moto. That is a good service which hobby racers appreciate.

Conclusion: Customers get good value for their money with these rearsets. The “SP Edition” rearsets feature easy installation and a high level of functionality.”
