TRW’s favourite WTCC team, Chevrolet, races onto leadership board with wins in rounds 1&2
TRW favourites – team Chevrolet - opened the first rounds of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in style in Curitiba, Brazil, with drivers Rob Huff and Alain Menu taking first place in rounds 1&2 respectively.
A great start to the 2011 Season, a year in which they will both want to fight for the World title.
British driver Huff, was crowned the overall winner at Brazil with the most points, closely followed by team mates, Alain Menu from Switzerland and Frenchman, Yvan Muller.
It was no great surprise that the Chevrolet Cruze cars took the lead as they are powered with new 1.6L engines. However, taking second place in the second race, Dutchman, Tom Coronel showed the BMW spirit and signalled that the VM is not far behind….watch out Chevrolet!
It looks like Chevrolet and BMW will be the two main contenders for the first half of the season, at least until SEAT and Volvo also switch to the new engine.
So readers, it’s an open stage at this point and anyone’s game. Plenty of excitement ahead, so watch this space.
