Range extension and new, simpler product coding for strut mount programme
Adding further weight to the ‘suspension’ part of its unique ‘Corner Module’ offer, which also comprises braking and steering product, TRW has introduced a new, simpler coding for its TRW branded strut mount programme and increased the range by almost a third. A new catalogue will follow shortly.
The company now offers an OE quality programme of 280 TRW branded strut mounts.
What is a strut mount?
The ‘mount’ connects the ‘strut’ to the vehicle body. It is composed of different components, depending on its position. Some are fitted on top of ‘struts’ and are composed of a bearing and rubber parts. In this case, the strut performs a steering role, which is assisted by the bearing. The rubber part dampens road vibrations. TRW prefixes these parts JSL.
Other strut mounts are associated with shock absorbers where the steering function does not exist (usually rear shocks). These strut mounts don’t need a bearing, merely the rubber part to reduce vibration (JSB). Some applications are provided with the bearing only (JFB).
What does it do?
It acts as an additional shock-absorbing device.
To ease identification, the part numbers now reflect their purpose:
- SUPPORT BEARING strut mounts (with rubber parts) are now prefixed JSB
- FRICTION BEARING strut mounts (with bearings) are now prefixed JFB
- Friction repair kits RETAIN the code JSL
Why buy TRW?

- Superior rubber to metal bonding
- Fitting instructions and installation kit included
Worn parts can affect the life of:

- Steering linkage
