TRW easycheck – making headlines
Check out what the trade press has to say about TRW easycheck

"Launched less than one year ago, TRW easycheck has proven its effectiveness and ease of use in the more common diagnostic operations."
Elettrauto, Italy, May 2009
“For the first time, Italian garages have access to a flexible, simple, electronic service solution for a fraction of the price of a full diagnostic system.”
Notiziario Motoristico, Italy, May 2009
“The TRW simple and efficient tool provides the solution to many service functions as lights reset, airbags, EPB....More functions can be added later to suit the needs of the garage.”
The Garage and MOT Professional, UK, September 2009
“There are only 6 buttons to operate the machine and these are both large, so easy to operate even with gloves on, and smoothly-finished in the same plastic comprising the face of the machine, which makes it easy to wipe clean and not prone to dirt or liquids getting into the electronics inside. The diagnostic box is surrounded with a softer plastic collar, to help protect it in arduous workshop environment too...Connection is a doddle, with a screw in terminal on the leading end of the unit, and a standard EOBD plug to interface your subject car... Everything you need is signalled simply, through the use of an acronym-based control language...Easycheck doesn’t disappoint with a fast interrogation and simple display of codes which can be checked against manufacturer data.”
In all, the new TRW easycheck is a very powerful tool in a compact size...TRW easycheck proves that powerful functionality, useful to the modern motor mechanic, is here right-now at an affordable price.
Putting TRW easycheck to the test
So, what did 2 independent product testing reviews by UK trade journals ‘The Garage and MOT Professional’ and ‘Professional Motor Mechanic’ report, when they put TRW easycheck through its paces?
‘The Garage and MOT Professional’ reported, “The erase function is simplicity itself, and on a Mazda 3 with a MIL lamp on, took less than a second to remove codes and switch off the management light on the dashboard. In addition to the DTC reader, easycheck can display live data from the car in exactly the same way as more expensive machines. It can then freeze this data so that checks can be made on-vehicle, allowing a comparison of values to assist the technician in assessing the need for component replacement.”
A simple tool to use that will serve a number of purposes and won’t break the bank whilst doing it
The report continued, “easycheck can also serve as an actuator operator, allowing the experienced mechanic to cycle on-board functions remotely from the easycheck unit – which can assist greatly in diagnosing faulty switchgear… More makers are now fitting complex automatic parking brake systems to their models. This can bring problems when changing brake pads, as calipers must be retracted electronically before the new pads can be installed. Easycheck doesn’t disappoint here either, with a fast-track circuit to allow speedy pad replacement. ABS diagnostics are also included, along with functions for interrogating and operating climate control systems.”
And, the conclusion drawn by ‘The Garage and MOT Professional’?
“In all, the new TRW easycheck is a very powerful tool in a compact size...TRW easycheck proves that powerful functionality, useful to the modern motor mechanic, is here right-now at an affordable price. Every good technician’s roll-cab should have one.”
Based on its own independent, in-depth testing ‘Professional Motor Mechanic’ reported, “Having used the TRW easycheck tool on many applications I found it easy to use and had a good level of connectivity, dependent on the manufacturer. What I particularly like about the tool is that you can buy as many or as few of the functions as you need and these can easily be added to at a later date if you require.”
And, its overall verdict ?
“Verdict – A simple tool to use that will serve a number of purposes and won’t break the bank whilst doing it.”
High praise indeed!
