TRW coil springs programme
To complement its shock absorber programme, TRW has introduced a range of matching OE quality coil springs.
Coil springs - the basics:
- Fitted to the top of the shock absorber, coil springs store energy
- Coil springs support the weight of the car and are a safety critical component
- Worn coil springs prevent vehicle from absorbing shock of bumps on the road – affecting suspension and braking performance
TRW coil springs explained:
- Matching OE specification
- Utilise tapered wire and constant wire. Tapered wire technique is being used more frequently by VMs today as it combines progressive spring rate, adapting to the weight of the vehicle
- Range of 899 references providing optimum car coverage for Europe
- Use same colour codes as VMs to minimise error in locating the correct coil spring
- Clear labelling indicating the fitment position actually on the coil spring itself
TRW’s Roman Rotter commented: “We advocate coil springs, along with shock absorbers, should be checked as part of a vehicle’s service interval, every 20,000 km, and replaced every 100,000 km.”
