TRW OE – The backbone of the TRW Corner Module system
Low specification parts have an impact on automotive systems such as ABS, and so TRW is highlighting the importance of choosing safety critical ‘Corner Module’ aftermarket components manufactured by the OE supplier.
“Fitting parts manufactured by the company that has not only developed the technologies behind them, but that understands how electronic systems integration works, makes perfect sense,” says TRW’s Soeren Kristensen. “At TRW, we are parts perfectionists. With a large amount of OE business we can call on that expertise to ensure our aftermarket products match the OE specification in every way.”
TRW Corner Module system – the best choice for our customers
The recent economic climate has forced a renewed interest in improving fuel efficiency, lowering emissions and increased functionality – with minimum cost to the driver and avoidance of vehicle weight gain.
Soeren continued: “The ‘Corner Module’ is where the unsprung mass sits. This is a collective term describing the brakes, wheels and other components which are connected to, but unsupported by, the suspension.
“Being unsupported, this is the area of the vehicle that receives the most punishment. Component weight is therefore crucial to the unsprung mass. Any differences in the tolerances of parts fitted in the area of unsprung mass, to the OE standard, can affect systems like the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ABS.
Therefore, integration of knowledge and process is key. We are meticulous in our reverse engineering techniques, we fully understand the systems and are experts in achieving minute tolerance levels,” he concluded.
