Heavyweight range goes from strength to strength – 5th steering & suspension range extension

TRW Proequip is rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned within the European HCV arena. As such, our promise to customers is that we will ALWAYS keep up to date with the ever-growing number of part numbers that make up the European commercial vehicle parc. So far this year, we have launched 5 extensions to our steering and suspension range alone - this time we introduce a further 78 references to our heavy weight range.   

What’s new?

This latest range extension introduces a further 78 parts into the TRW Proequip steering and suspension portfolio. This includes:

• 20 drag links
• 6 radius rods
• 3 tie rod ends
• 1 V Link
• 1 ball joint
• 1 alignment nut
• 38 XCAP designed drag links
• 8 XCAP tie rod ends

What is XCAP?

Developed at our in-house, technical facility in Dusseldorf, TRW’s XCAP is the latest design in linkage technology. This latest extension to the range - which has been patented ifor 20 years - includes 38 XCAP designed drag links and 8 XCAP tie rod ends.

What are the benefits?

The XCAP is stronger, more durable and smaller than its predecessors and will feature on most vehicle manufacturer’s commercial vehicles from now on, for example 27 new parts have been released for Mercedes’ HCV applications.

XCAP fast facts

• The new design XCAP is a smaller product – featuring less components
• Improved sealing with unique “tulip” design dust cover
• Higher load capacity of housing – resulting in a stronger and more durable product
• Reduced radial and axial and elasticity – resulting in  noise reduction
• Defined axial elasticity is improved by a new spring element and assembly
• Reduced torque and envelope size
• Wear is easier to identify
  

What’s next for TRW Proequip?

This 5th extension to TRW Proequip’s steering and suspension range in 2009 brings us yet another step closer to achieving our ambition of providing a unique ‘corner module’. TRWs ‘corner module’ - of braking, steering and suspension and shock absorbers – will be a total and complete, all makes range of heavy commercial vehicle chassis products. Effectively, TRW will be a ‘one stop shop’ complete chassis systems solution for the European HCV market. Watch this space in 2010!
